I got the vegetarian tacos and the pumpkin rice. Highly recommend the pumpkin rice—so flavorful and so hearty, one of my favorites! Tacos were a bit tinier than I expected but overall great taste. Also pretty close to Times Square but not close enough for it to be super packed and touristy. Would go back!

Ordered takeout. Wanted good Mexican food but didn't want to splurge too much. Got the steak burrito ($20) for something more filling but relatively less expensive compared to the rest of the menu. It was quite good and juicy, with just a touch of spice. Only complaint was that the tortilla became a bit too soggy. Also got the short ribs taco, which was very tender and delicious, but for $18, was a bit of a splurge. Lastly got the churros which were great. Not too sweet, not too hard/crispy. Overall for $50 for 2 people, it checked the boxes of being a bit of a treat but also pretty filling

We were seeing a show the night we came to dine at Toloache, and our schedule was a little tight. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We were seated right away and the host, Andrea, took our order before we even sat down. Our food arrived and was absolutely delicious! We finished, payed our check, and walked to the theater with time to spare. We sat outside in a heated area that was attached to the restaurant. It wasn’t cold at all even though it was early December. We will 100% be returning.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Literally the best upscale Mexican and most authentic! Having Latin roots, I can attest to the amazing quality, freshest ingredients and wonderful staff (Daniel always makes you feel special and "at home")!
The pineapple margarita served on the rocks is so refreshing and my personal favorite. I am a type-A personality who demands quality cocktails with real ingredients and Toloache82 always delivers. (Yes as a type-A I also will not settle for mediocre or boring food). Toloache is none of that.
The shrimp tacos are just the perfect size and so flavorful; the shrimp

Where did all these good reviews come from ????? This place is not good at all. The prices are way too high for "sample" sized food. I was still hungry after paying 45$ for a small plate. Not only are the portions extremely small but the food is average tasting, at best. I didn't even like the drinks, the margaritas or the tap water.
The service was great, but that's it. Overall, I would say pass on this place especially if you're hungry.

Had high expectations, but were not met. The food is good (the cod was very good in picture), but the service and overall value are not there. Seated upstairs, it felt like a cafeteria. Very tight, low ceiling and hardly any space among tables. Service is willing, but you can't bring me my beer after my appetizer (asked twice for it), and in a bottle. Ask me if I wanted a glass (we're not at a bar). When I asked for a glass, it never arrived. Had to get my own from another table. Appetizer dishes were not cleared when the main course arrived. Plexiglass along the banister is dirty. And prices do

Brunch isn't supposed to leave you hungry and upset, right?
Horrible service. Inaccurate menu- what you order is NOT at all what you receive.
Rude manager with no customer service training. EXTREMELY overpriced. Experience was so terrible that we left and went to a different Mexican restaurant.
Do not waste your money at this establishment. For better food, drinks, and service, visit the following Mexican restaurants on the Upper East Side: Calexico (consistently good service and AMAZING tex mex food), Conmigo (outstanding margaritas and good tacos and burritos), Javalina (queso, Guac

I came to this place with my friends who had been a few months earlier. They raved about the breakfast burrito, so we went to get it. We ordered a round of margaritas and placed our order for the breakfast burritos. The menu listed that they included rice, beans, egg, cheese, avocado -- you know standard breakfast burrito fare. After a very long wait, they came out and served us our "burritos". Instead of a burrito we received 2 small, burnt wraps, that contained maybe half an egg, some avocado and these thin potato chips, the same ones that were accompanying the "burrito".

We hit this place up pretty much every time we are in NYC. We love it that much! I highly recommend the fresh guacamole and a mezcalita. This last visit I tried the grapefruit one and I was so delighted by how all the flavors were so delicious. We are thankful for the great food and great service! (Don't skip the Mexican coffee or the churros!)
Update: We went back on our next trip and love everything about this place. Huevos rancheros, queso, and delicious Mexican coffee.

Sorry to say, but I honestly don't know what all these 4 star reviews are for. I chose this place because my friend wanted Mexican and it was in our way home from work and had a bunch of great reviews. What a mistake.
I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and my friend ordered chicken enchiladas. We also ordered an appetizer of guacamole and 1 drink each.
Drinks had barely any alcohol and huge chunks of watermelon and no flavor at all.
The guacamole is definitely pre-made as when it comes out its very cold- the chunks if avocado were big and it had too much lime juice. (Probably to keep it

The inside of this feels very ornate, great date spot, and service very friendly. We were seated immediately on a weeknight around 6:30. We got a seat on their balcony. We ordered the chips with guacamole and mild salsa and ceviche. The ceviche is served on a taco, tasted alright. Then we ordered the pork tacos and the short rib. The short rib taco was probably the best taco I’ve had in a longgg time. The flavor profile was dynamic, taco stayed intact the whole time, perfect amount of stuffing. Pork taco also delicious but less memorable. Overall thought every piece of food was great!

Ordered a delivery. The Guacamole size was ridiculously small, especially with the high pricing of it. There was a lump of avocado in the middle of the guacamole. We asked for medium spice of the guacamole but it wasn't spicy at all. The taco de calabacita was extremely spicy, we could barely eat it.

Love this place, the service, the calm laid back atmosphere and the FOOD! All top notch! I've been here a few times, I know they have a few different locations, but this one is by far the best. A little pricey for it being mexican food, but its so worth it. All the dishes are tasty and prepared just right, but if I had to Reccomend one...it would be the lobster tacos. They are amazing! My one issue is that they don't have mexican corn(Elote) , they need to add that to the menu!

Really great restaurant serving contemporary Mexican fare. The tacos were amazing, especially the hamachi. I would come back to try more ceviches and tacos. I’m sure the entrees were good too, they all sound delicious. I’d come back, I sure wish I could try the grasshopper tacos they used to have though!!

Sometimes I write reviews to save others from my mistake. I can see going here if you're in the neighborhood and have a craving for something resembling Mexican food, but otherwise can't really justify the trip. Had the vegetarian burrito which was charred, i.e. burnt on pieces of the outside, and pretty without anything substantive inside. Save yourself go to Chipotle. The tuna app was fine but drenched in a vinaigrette. Churros were pretty much the best thing I had.

Wow. What a gem. I moved to the UES last week and this was the first place I ate out and I am so happy I did. I'm not the biggest Mexican food fan but I'm definitely a Toloache fan!
The food was amazing - please try the fruit guacamole and the bacalao trufado was just pure ecstasy. I was so full but I couldn't stop.
Will definitely come again!

I would probably give my dinner experience there a 3.5 star if I could.. To start - I called to make a reservation and the person who answered was SO rude (I'm assuming it was the owner), I started asking a question and he basically hung up on me.
We decided to eat there anyways and while the food was good, it's expensive for what it is and I feel like you could find better cheaper Mexican food in the area. The servers are overworked so I had to hunt down our waiter and wait almost 45 minutes to get my water glass refilled. The food came out very quickly and I feel like we were rushed

**Review is for Delivery/Take out only**
If you plan to order take out or delivery, don't. Order from somewhere else, anywhere else. 100% of the time delivery is WELL over an hour.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area that are great, need the help, and will not make you wait as long for food. Skip this place.

Of all the places that are reopening during COVID this place has one of the best outdoor dining spaces since they have an actual patio out in the back. I recommend calling to make a reservation so you can get one of tables in the back vs on the street. Very friendly staff and delicious food. My enchiladas were very good and keep the margaritas coming. Love having a quality spot just steps from home that are making things feel just a little bit closer to normal again.

Toloache, Toloache, Toloache! Now you say it 3 times fast. Came here for my birthday and had a fabulous time my friends. I sat at the bar for a Prickly Pear margarita while I waited for my friends. The bartender and bar crowd we're all super friendly. It just happened to be Mexican Independence Day and the bartender gave us a little history lessen.
We sat in the middle of the restaurant which was a little busy and right next to the kitchen, but luckily no one bumped into us. Great decor and the food really speaks for itself. I had the one of the platos fuertes...The JM Carne Asada (Grilled
