In 1985, Captain Tim O'Leary founded American Diving. He made the move from the commercial diving industry to the sport diving community. Since that time American Diving has been introducing divers of all levels to the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of South Padre Island. Our dive boat, the Diver 1, is built to comfortably take our divers to the wrecks off the coast of South Padre Island.

Our dive boat, the Diver 1, has been specially outfitted for diving in the Gulf of Mexico. To go diving with us, ALL divers must be scuba Certified by an accredited training agency.
The Aquarium

The Aquarium is the name we have given to a group of Jack Up Rigs located 15 miles off the coast of South Padre Island. They are located in 120 fsw and are home to a wide variety of colorful reef fish and native Gulf species. With structure that extends from the sea floor to above the surface, it is an ideal site for both beginner and advanced divers.

Just imagine where you will go! Begin your underwater explorations by enrolling in a the NAUI Open Water Scuba Diver Certification class. This is our entry-level certification course where you will learn the fundamental knowledge and skills to safety dive in open water.

Advanced Diver

Enroll in our NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver Certification and explore new dive sites and undertake exclusive activities under the supervision of a NAUI Instructor. This course allows individuals to learn about specialties and diving activities of particular interest.
