High Hopes Therapeutic Riding
At High Hopes we celebrate and embrace diversity. We strive to build an inclusive culture that represents the wide variety of populations we serve. We know that it's our differences that make us special and those differences should be supported, nurtured and celebrated. The people who come to High Hopes represent all ages & backgrounds.

The majority of our participants are between the ages of 3 and 14, some are in their 70's. Most participants have varying degrees of cognitive, physical, behavioral, psychological or sensory disabilities. There is no "typical" High Hopes participant, as programs are designed to benefit individuals with a wide variety of disabilities.
Services
Our History
Report
Beginning as a group of nomads with borrowed horses, High Hopes has become a leader both in providing therapeutic riding services and in setting the standards for service, training and education in the profession. We have achieved ambitious goals, especially over the last decade, and have made significant progress toward a comprehensive strategic plan.
About
Report
Sometimes impact can only be measured in the smiles on the faces of a participant or a family member when they see their loved one achieve something they never thought would be possible. However High Hopes is unusual in its commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice. We are therefore taking part in a ground-breaking research study - The Therapeutic Riding Assessment of Impact Network.
Our Mission
Report
The primary disabilities include autism, attention deficit disorder, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, developmental delay, mental retardation, visual and hearing impairments, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and amputation. Many of the children and adults we serve, including disadvantaged young people from inner cities, have learning or behavioral disabilities.
Our Team
Report
As a charitable nonprofit organization, High Hopes is governed by a 20-member all-volunteer Board of Trustees, and managed by a team of 12 full-time and 13 part-time professional staff. The staff is augmented by over 650 active volunteers who further support our daily operations. Mac and her husband, Earl, are veterinarians and have owned four small animal practices.
