Our language therapy implements a variety of activities to keep your child engaged and motivated throughout the session. We use your child's strengths to further his or her language skills. Speech sound disorders are errors in sound production that impact the intelligibility of a child's speech. We use our years of experience in conjunction with a battery of assessments to ensure your child is receiving the most appropriate therapy.
Fluency is speaking in a smooth manner in all instances. While the occasional moments of disfluency ("um, " "uh, " and word repetitions) are typical, when such moments of "getting stuck on words" are consistently present in your child's speech, therapy will be very beneficial. We know how frustrating and frightening it can be when your child is a problem feeder.

We have extensive experience in treating early language, speech sound, fluency, pragmatic language, feeding, swallowing, and oral motor disorders.
Oral Motor Therapy

Oral motor therapy is utilized to target increased strength and coordination of the lip, tongue, and cheek muscles. We create a targeted protocol to increase your child's oral motor skills throughout therapy. Oral motor therapy is used to encourage growth in feeding skills. When a child has a low tone in the oral and facial muscles, it has a negative impact on his or her chewing, swallowing, and managing of food.
Speech Sound Therapy

Speech sound disorders are classified as articulation disorders or phonological processes. At NPT, we utilize a variety of methods of speech sound therapy to best treat your child. What is an articulation disorder? An articulation disorder occurs when a child presents with difficulties and errors in sound production.

Children have a wide range of "typical development" during their earliest years. That being said, we look for milestones at NPT to determine if your child could benefit from language therapy. We know how frustrating and frightening it can be when your child is a problem feeder. At NPT, we have years of successful experience with feeding therapy. Your child's goals and treatment protocol will be tailored specifically to promote the most efficient results. Many children (and adults!) are picky eaters.
