At St. Mary's School, we teach students to ask "what" and "why" in a way that demonstrates that they're an essential part of the answer to "how." The student life team aims to help students develop their world-sized hearts. As part of that effort faculty and staff are always on the lookout for students who show kindness to others in unexpected ways.
We like to recognize those who perform acts of kindness when they think no one is watching. Students are nominated for things like going out of their way to welcome new students, cleaning up messes that are not theirs or comforting friends who are sad. Every time a student receives a letter home, their classroom earns a world-sized heart.

A student can read about the American Revolution or watch a video about the ocean, but it does not have the same impact as seeing Colonial Williamsburg or enjoying the marvels snorkeling in Catalina. Our unique Field Studies program integrates academic content areas into a realistic approach to learning beyond the classroom environment.

We are each an essential part of the world. That's why we impart an international perspective and teach diverse ideas at St. Mary's School. Students here step outside of their familiar experience so that they might see through the eyes of others. That's not a question of standing aside from the place and culture in which you were raised, but of gaining the perspective that allows you to appreciate who you are, who you will become and why.
