Waynflete School

Waynflete School was founded in 1897 by Agnes Lowell and Caroline Crisfield, who came to Portland from the Ogontz School in Philadelphia. During a trip to England, the founders became interested in 15th-century statesman and educator William Waynflete. Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor of England, he founded Magdalen College at Oxford as well as an elementary school at his nameplace, "Wainfleet."

Whether you are coming from away or have lived in Portland, Maine all your life, you need to experience Waynflete for yourself. We invite families to visit campus to get a better sense of the informal moments that make Waynflete special. Through tours, student visits, and a short parent interview we, hope you will come away with a greater understanding of our school.
