The Nursery School opened in 1952 with a single class. In 1960 we expanded and moved into our present space in the Mellin-Macnab Church House, designed by distinguished architect Edgar Tafel. Our school enjoys four large and bright classrooms, a studio for wood working and art, a roof top playground, indoor play space, a lending library, as well as expansive gardens and lawn.
In its nearly 70 years of service to young children, the nursery school has responded to the needs and interests of its children and families in many ways, including the addition of programs for younger children, early arrivals and extended day programming, as well as an early summer program.

Parent Participation
Report
We welcome and encourage the participation and feedback of FPCNS parents. Parents help us to enrich everyone's experience at school, and to build a vibrant, inclusive and cooperative community. There are many opportunities to participate at FPCNS that suit parents' interests and availability, during the school day or during evening hours.
Additional Programs
Report
The Nursery School offers students in the Yellow and Blue Rooms an Extended Day Enrichment program on Mondays-Thursdays in the fall, winter, and spring. The EDE extends the student's day until 4:00pm. The program provides children with an opportunity to explore special interests and develop new skills in an environment that is familiar and comfortable to them.
Typical Day
Report
For each of our classrooms, the daily schedule remains largely the same from day to day, so that children know what to expect during the school day and are prepared for transitions from one activity to another. The components of our typical school day are listed below. In addition to their classroom schedules, during each school week, our children will work with specialists in Art Studio & Wood Working, Music, Movement, Gardening and Library.
