I am honored that you've taken the time to visit Portland Guitar Studio in your pursuit to become a better guitarist and musician. I've been in love with the study of music since I began taking piano lessons at the age of 5, so I consider it an enormous privilege that I am now able to share this passion through guitar lessons with students of all ages, skill levels, and interests.
Starting guitar lessons, or any new endeavor for that matter, can seem daunting at first. As a teacher, I aim to take the intimidation out of the process and show my students that learning the guitar can be incredibly easy, fun and fulfilling. I find that every student has a unique musical perspective which should be met by an equally unique course of study, as well as a teacher who is able to adapt to their individual goals and curiosities.

In our first lesson, we discuss your musical interests and aspirations, which helps me construct a personally tailored lesson plan. In guitar lessons for beginners, we quickly begin tackling topics like how to hold the guitar and nail down basic chords. Within the first few lessons, you'll begin learning your favorite songs.

I love teaching beginning guitar. As a teacher, starting with a blank slate is such an exciting experience for several reasons. First and foremost, beginning students are so inspired by their rapid improvement, increased self-confidence, and pride in having learned something new, that they constantly remind me why music is such a wonderful and enriching pursuit in the first place.
