About Us
Report
The current Huntoon Stables operation is being run by the third and fourth generation of Huntoons. The operation, in one form or another, dates back into the 19th century. Of course, in those days, many people owned horses for transportation or work purposes, but there were still professional stables and horsemen and they were just as busy and popular then as they are now.
Lessons
Report
Huntoon Stables has been in the business of teaching horsemanship since 1932. We teach primarily Saddleseat lessons, which is one of the four major disciplines recognized by the United States Equestrian Federation. Saddleseat is an English style of riding, but there is no jumping involved.
It requires a great deal of discipline, but when you become proficient it will provide you with a lifetime of enjoyment and the ability to easily switch to other, or additional, styles of riding if you should so choose.New students, even those with some prior experience at other facilities, are required to start with our Evaluation package which consists of two 1/2 hour private lessons.

Rates
Report
We require new students to begin with our two lesson Evaluation package. If they wish to continue with our lesson program, all lessons after the two trials are scheduled on a monthly, standing appointment basis. Except for the Evaluation package, all fees are monthly rates and are due by the 10th of the month.
Boy/Girl Scout Programs
Report
Each scout will get to ride two times around our indoor arena, but they will be lead while riding. The cost is $15.00 per Scout. There is no charge for leaders and leaders will not be allowed to ride. Each rider needs to wear long pants (preferably jeans); a shoe that ties, velcros or otherwise fastens on plus a helmet.
