Holistic Riding Equestrian Therapy
HRET is passionately committed to empowering the lives of individuals with varied physical, emotional, cognitive, and social abilities through the spirit of the horse HRET offers a variety of skill appropriate classes meeting the needs of preschoolers on our ponies to independent riders on our program safe horses.

We are an equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) program that provides horse and pony therapeutic riding and activities. Our classes are approximately an hour long and incorporate grooming and bonding time with horses or ponies in addition to riding. Our program cannot exist without your help.

Our Mission

This program started out of a dream to empower others and to "never say no" to someone wanting to experience connection with a horse. Marlene Karman, our Executive Director, and her husband Art Karman, started this dream through their own horses, money, hardwork, and love for working with children and horses.
Meet Our Team
Report
Marlene Karman is the founder and Executive Director of HRET. As a PATH instructor, she teaches many of our classes and creates individualized curriculum for schools and private classes.

Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) Intl certified therapeutic riding instructor, educator and wellness coach with M'lis (30+years), VP in saving and loan industry, previous Lemont Fire Commissioner, founding member of Willow Creek Church and co-leader of Prison and Jail Ministry, active member of the Equestrian Woods Community Association Board of Directors.Art keeps our horse herd healthy and happy.

We are an Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) program and our directors and instructors are certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International.
Farm Experience

Our farm experience program combines both riding and a farm program component. The farm program builds on the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social benefits gained in equine therapy through participation in farm chores and activities. Individuals have the opportunity to learn and care for animals and agriculture, while creating interest and hope for future educational and career opportunities.
Equine Dream

Every dreamed about owning, share boarding, or leasing a horse but did not know when and where to start? Let us help you make your dream come true. This course will also help you to elevate your horse leadership skills to better serve our riders!.
