Welcome to Once Upon a Time Reading Tutoring, a place where your child will be given the one-on-one reading instruction they deserve! My name is Jennifer Yenerich and I am the founder of Once Upon a Time Reading Tutoring. As an experienced teacher, Certified Dyslexia Interventionist and Orton-Gillingham instructor, I am dedicated to delivering the instruction your child needs to become a successful reader!
My goal is to give my students the direct, explicit, and multi-sensory instruction they need to be confident, successful readers in the classroom and beyond. I received my extensive Orton-Gillingham certification from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Instruction (IMSE), a training program accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).

About Your Tutor
Report
I am Jennifer Yenerich, the founder of Once Upon a Time Reading Tutoring. I have a passion for helping young children learn how to read. I find joy in watching children's faces light up when something finally clicks and they are able to segment a word into its individual sounds or decode a new word.
How Does it Work
Report
The most important thing here at Once Upon a Time Reading Tutoring is your child! I want to meet them where they are currently functioning and move them, skill by skill, along the road to reading. Step 3. Conduct a 10-minute follow up meeting to discuss your child's strengths, weaknesses, and next steps.
What is the Orton-Gillingham Approach
Report
The Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading and spelling is based on the work and research of Dr. Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham in the early to mid 1900's along with the scientific research of best reading practices for people who struggle to learn how to read. OG is not a program.
It is a well respected approach used for many years to successfully teach people how to read effectively, especially those who have a language-based learning disability like dyslexia.Through phonological awareness (sounds) to syllabication to morphological awareness (meanings), the Orton-Gillingham approach covers all areas of literacy.
