R. Michelson Galleries is the largest commercial art gallery in western Massachusetts. Art originally exhibited at R. In 2019, R. Michelson Galleries celebrated our 40th anniversary and 30th Annual Illustration Celebration. In that time we have seen our artists garner 16 Caldecott Medals and 35 Caldecott Honor Awards. We are proud to be recognized as the premier gallery for picture book illustration and the first venue in the country to feature illustration on an equal footing with "fine art."

Michelson Galleries in 1976 after three years selling fine art reproductions out of the back of his van. He moved the gallery to western MA in 1979. Mr. Michelson is also a poet and children's books author.
