Belt Conveyors
Report
A belt conveyor has several advantages and disadvantages when being considered as a mechanical means of bulk materials conveying. Belt conveyors can pivot at one end allowing the discharge to be moved over an arc (radial stacking). The normal design of a belt conveyor is opened. If your product needs to be contained, covers and or drip pans can become expensive and cumbersome.
Incline Screw Conveyors
Report
A screw in the horizontal is a conveyor or feeder, but as the screw is inclined it very quickly becomes a lift or pump. All of the charts & formulas for calculating speed and capacity for a screw, in the horizontal are no longer applicable, what now comes into play is product knowledge and experience for sizing and calculating speed and horse power for incline and vertical screws.
Injector Screws
Report
When a cantilevered screw is used as an injector, occasionally, it may be desirable to deliver two products at the same time to the same point. If one of them is liquid and can be pumped, or will flow, then the drive shaft can be made hollow and to accept a rotary joint.

With this configuration the screw will control the dry product that it is conveys and a pump or valve will control the liquid thus giving you a two product controlled feed to a single point. When the cantilevered screw is used as a feeder then the inlet must be filled at all times. There will always be a section of shroud after the inlet; this creates a round conveying path that the screw draws through.
Ribbon Screws
Report
Ribbon screw conveyors are used for several reasons. The two most common are for handling sticky materials and material that tends to segregate during conveying. The proper ribbon screw conveyor design will eliminate the segregation of large from small and light from heavy.

A screw conveys on the periphery of the flight, so considering the % of housing loading and the material flow characteristics you can estimate the amount of material fall back that you will get when using a ribbon screw. This fall back is what will keep the material all blended while it is being conveyed.
