What is a Notary Public? A responsible person appointed by state government to authenticate and screen the signing of important documents and administer oaths declaring under penalty of perjury that the information contained in a document is true and correct. Notaries deter fraud and establish that the signer knows what document they're signing, and that they're a willing participant to sign without duress or intimidation.
The Notary also makes sure that signers have entered into agreements knowingly and willingly in a society in which business dealings between strangers are the norm. Notaries create a trustworthy environment where people can share important documents with full confidence in their authenticity. Impartiality is the foundation of the Notary's public trust.
