Westside Family Health Center
In 1974, a small group of dedicated feminists and mid-level clinicians came together and started the Women's Health Care Project as part of a larger social change movement in Santa Monica to provide women's health care. Using the Boston Women's Health Collaborative's Our Bodies, Ourselves as inspiration and guidance, the Women's Health Care Project helped women share experiences, enabled them to learn more about their bodies and their health and empowered them through knowledge.

What is now Westside Family Health Center added prenatal care in 1990, pediatric services in 1992, adolescent health care in 1994, a family practice program that includes a strong healthy aging component in 1999 and serves women, men and children, and in 2019 WFHC added mental health services. For more highlights of WFHC's history, check out the timeline below.
