Therapy with TALK providers is tailored to your unique needs and goals in a comfortable environment that is interactive and fun.

Testimonials
Report
My 11-year-old daughter began seeing Laura Smith over a year ago for tongue thrust and speech problems. Laura immediately established a positive rapport with my daughter and supported us through an intense curriculum that allowed my daughter to overcome her difficulties. Her teeth are normal and beautiful now, thanks to Laura's help.
Swallowing Disorders
Report
Sharing food and enjoying meal together are an important part of our culture. For people with dysphagia, or swallowing disorders, eating and drinking can be stressful, scary, and dangerous. Speech-language pathologists can diagnose a swallowing disorder with the use of an endoscope (a lighted tube inserted through the nose, allowing the individual's swallowing mechanism to be viewed on a screen).
Tongue Thrust
Report
In infants, the tongue naturally and automatically pushes forward between the teeth to help with suckling and swallowing. As children grow, this movement, known as tongue thrusting, should decrease and eventually disappear. Past the age of 5 or 6, tongue thrusting is the abnormal habit of placing the tongue between the teeth before and during the act of swallowing.
Digit Sucking
Report
Thumb or finger sucking is an instinctive behavior that is normal for babies and young children. Beyond early childhood, however, habitual sucking is problematic. If sucking behaviors continue, your child's dental, speech, physical, and emotional development may be negatively impacted.
Sucking changes the shape of the mouth, potentially resulting in an anterior open bite (where the front teeth do not appear to touch), protruding upper front teeth, a narrow and deep roof of the mouth, and a posterior cross bite (where the upper side of the teeth fit into the inside of the lower teeth).
