The Rock Underground (TRU) is a place where musicians of all ages and levels of proficiency can take private lessons, join a band and perform live on stage! What sets "TRU" apart from other music schools is the ability to stretch our imaginations and write our own book. Unlike more traditional music programs, we've set out with a simple mission: "Take Rock Back" from the mainstream.
Our Influences

We are influenced by bassists such as, James Jamerson, John Entwistle, Chris Squire and Will Lee! Influenced by many drummers throughout the decades, in particular John Bonham and Steve Gadd! Influences varying from St. Vincent and Mick Jagger to Christina Aguilera and Thom Yorke, and tons of artists in between!
Lessons

TRU offers fun, effective and educational lessons for beginners to advanced musicians. We cite legendary artists and classic songs in our lessons to teach instrument knowledge, fundamentals, music theory, technique, and promote individual creativity so that our students emerge as well-rounded musicians.
Glee

We offer a unique approach to the traditional "a cappella" GLEE club. TRU students attend a weekly group rehearsal and learn how to sing in a choir and as back-up singers to a rotating cast of lead vocalists. Performances are with a live ensemble comprised of either TRU students or TRU staff.
The repertoire is chosen from the traditional and non-traditional song book and has included artists as varied as Macy Gray, Queen, Alicia Keys, Frank Zappa, Ceelo and Joe cocker.Vocalists are cast according to profiency and age. This is an excellent program for students who sing but don't play an instrument, or eventually want to front a TRU original band or join a TRU performance ensemble.

Toddler Jam

Toddler Jam is a program designed for students that have an interest in music but may be too young to begin taking formal lessons. Toddler Jam is recommended for ages 18 months through up to 5 years.
On Saturday or Sunday mornings (depending on the school and the age group), your child will sing their favorite songs, be introduced to different musical instruments that they can play during free time, while also engaging in rhythm exercises and learning about the fundamentals of music.
