Why get frozen bread from some factory out of state? We want to reintroduce people to the freshness of locally-made products here in the Hartford area. Working with local farms, we aim to source as many of our ingredients from the surrounding area as possible. As a bakery in CT, we believe in starting with great ingredients and taking the time to perfect our products.

From our breads to our coffee, everything we produce is hand-crafted with patience and attention to detail. Every morning, our bakers and pastry chefs mix and bake everything from scratch to make sure you're getting the freshest product possible. In an industry obsessed with convenience and speed, we decided to go in the other direction.

Back in 2010, we started with one baker, four baristas, and a mission - to give our hometown a great bakery, and make the greatest products we possibly could. We wanted to attach Hartford's name to something superlative and create something the community would be proud of. A few years later, with a good dose of hard work and a little luck, we've grown to over 50 employees and deliver to restaurants and grocery stores in all corners of the state.

Our team works hard, has a lot of fun, and is passionate about our company and products. We put a lot of effort into making sure all of the people who work with us are a great fit and that our company fits them.
Our Breads

A simple and classic dough that makes up our most popular items, including Baguettes and White Sandwich Loaves. Perfectly balanced with just a tinge of sweet flavor and a robust crust. Nutritious and delicious. A not-too-dense, slightly sweet whole-wheat loaf, perfect for a variety of sweet or savory sandwiches.
The Artisan Baking Process

Not all bread is created equal. You don't need to be a baker or a foodie to tell the difference between a crusty, Hartford Baking Co's freshly-baked artisan bread in CT versus the supermarket sliced variety - beyond that, however, things can get confusing.

They're usually used to signify care, expertise and quality of ingredients, but currently there are no official restrictions on who can use these terms; so it's always worth finding out the story behind the label.At Hartford Baking Co. we use the word "artisan" to sum up just how much attention we give our products; the long, traditional processes we use and the way we closely monitor every single handmade loaf.

Like our bread and baked goods, quality is always our focus. That's why we're proud to partner with some of the best roasters in the country to bring you the best coffees available in Connecticut. The coffees we feature are always roasted to a medium color, never dark, so that you can always taste the actual coffee, not just flavors imparted by the roast.
