John Riley Pottery
I am a potter who lives and works in the District of Columbia where I have resided for over 20 years. I began my creative practice as a painter and started taking pottery classes in 2008. I have participated in specialized ceramics workshops with potters across the U.S., including with Akira Satake, Linda Christianson, Simon Levin, Lori Katz, and Kevin Crowe.

When my hands are not in clay, I like to cook, play guitar, paint, ride my bike around the city, watch Washington Nationals baseball, and read about science. I create one-of-a-kind pieces of pottery for everyday use that will enhance the experience of cooking, eating and drinking, and enliven the beauty of one's home.

Below are some pictures from customers and those who have received John Riley Pottery as gifts. If you've purchased an item from me, I would love to hear about how the pottery is being utilized in your home.
