Speech
Report
When children pronounce sounds incorrectly for example, saying "wabbit" for "rabbit" they are experiencing speech difficulties. This area of speech is often referred to as articulation. Difficulties in this area can be due to a variety of underlying causes such as, incorrect placement of articulators (i.e., lips, tongue, etc.).
Literacy
Report
Phonemic Awareness includes the ability to identify individual sounds, syllables, and rhyming. Working on these areas help build a child's ability to recognize and learn the required letter to sound relationship that is crucial to proficient reading and spelling success. If your child is demonstrating difficulty with literacy skills it is important to receive intervention early.
Social Skills
Report
Some children with pragmatic difficulties have trouble using spoken and body language in socially appropriate ways. If your child is struggling with understanding social rules, holding conversations, participating in play, or making friends speech-language therapy can provide tools necessary to over come these obstacles.
