Despite the profound changes in pediatric diagnosis and therapy in pediatric medicine as in all medicine over the many years of our solo practice, our attitude toward taking care of families has remained very much the same. As we have from the beginning, we make every effort to treat all our patients and their families with empathy, courtesy, an appropriate sprinkling of humor, and generally very personal care.
We try to make scheduling convenient, seeing sick children the same day when desired, and now offering the convenient option of "virtual" telemedicine visits for many medical problems. Our office still answers phone calls personally rather than with automated menus and recognizes how important families regard getting their calls personally returned.

Expecting
Report
Since 1977 our practice has been seeing patients as newborns, following many of them through adolescence, and even enjoying the gratification and privilege of seeing many next-generation children of former patients. From our first encounter, we set out to establish long-term relationship with our families with the goal of providing a medical home with guidance on the whole spectrum of infant and child care.
New Patients
Report
If you need to cancel, we ask for 24 hours' notice unless there are unpredictable circumstances, in which case a shorter-notice call is still helpful. This is especially important if the time has been allotted for more than one child in the family. If you are a new patient or if there has been an insurance change, it is important to be sure that you have a plan with which we participate and that we are listed as the patient's PCP.
Education
Report
Our team of professionals and staff believe that informed patients are better equipped to make decisions regarding their child's health and wellbeing. For your personal use, we have created an extensive patient library covering an array of educational topics, which can be found on the side of each page.
Immunizations
Report
David M Cotlar, MD Pediatrics follows the immunization guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Our practice believes that all children should receive the recommended vaccines according to the guidelines provided by the AAP and the CDC. Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing diseases and health complications in children and young adults.
