We assess your teen's needs and goals, design a personal program to enhance skills, and teach effective strategies.
Most of our students increase their scores by 100 points on each SAT section, and 4 points total on the ACT. Your teen will be well prepared and confident at test time! As school workload increases, students not working up to their potential can develop poor self-esteem and a seeming "lack of motivation".

This summer, we are happy to be able to bring back in-person instruction! We also continue to offer online instruction! Whether in-person or online, students will continue to work individually with our state certified, experienced teachers to receive high quality personal instruction and support. Students may register at any time throughout the year for after-school, Saturday morning, and summer sessions.
About Tutoring

Lana Marshak is an experienced educator and has been supervising all facets of SLC since 1998. She is personally involved with each family, and maintains continuous contact with parents and teachers. Mrs. Marshak holds a Bachelors degree from Cooper Union, and a Masters degree from Cornell University.
About Test Prep

We first gain an understanding of your students's needs and strengths by assessing foundation skills. We then meet with the family to discuss results, learn your goals, and map out a personal plan and timetable for your student. We also set up a convenient test prep schedule. SLC test prep tutors are NJ certified teachers, many holding Master's degrees.
Reading

Successful reading starts with a good foundation: letter-sound knowledge in emergent readers, and mastery of decoding and phonics rules in the early grades. As your child gets older, good reading becomes important for all subjects. A solid foundation in reading lays the ground work for success in all areas of school and beyond.
Writing

Successful writing starts with a good foundation: mechanics and conventions, along with the ability to generate ideas, organize, and add details. Good writing involves considerable planning and revising. Once the writing process is strengthened, your child's grades in subjects that require writing (English, Social Studies, Science) will improve.
