Jackson Hole Therapeutic RDNG
Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding (JHTR) was established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1993 by three women who knew the value of horses as therapy. They were Robin Lightner, Dede McDonald and Elaine Infanger. A horse woman, a physical therapist, and a mother, these extraordinary women introduced a novel and innovative form of therapy to the Jackson community.

With just a handful of horses, JHTR moved from arena to arena in order to provide this essential service to children and adults throughout the county living with disabilities. In 1997, after a successful capital campaign, a new arena was built. Since that time, JHTR has become one of the most well-known and respected non-profits in Teton County, Wyoming.

Our participants see increased self-esteem, empowerment, and they build amazing relationships with peers, horses, volunteers, and staff.

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving this month, we thought it was the perfect time to honor the rich Native American history throughout the United States and learn a bit about the. Horses, just like humans, need a balance of many things to maintain a healthy life. Learn all about horses nutritional needs with this JHTR Horse Nutrition Presentation and then use that knowledge.

HORSE LEADERS are responsible for the safety of the horse and control at all times. You reinforce signals that the rider gives to the horse. While walking with the horse, you'll maintain a proper distance from other horses in the class while walking, changing directions, and passing. You don't interact directly with the rider; that is the Sidewalker's job.

Normally at this time of year, we would be extending an invitation to join us for our annual Stomping the Divots fundraiser-an uplifting and impactful celebration of the Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding mission. Unfortunately, decisions regarding our in-person event had to be made at a time when insufficient insight into future public health restrictions was available.
