Dr. Joann Strain

Dr. Strain is a Penn State graduate. She completed her doctorate in optometry in 1983 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She purchased the practice in 2002 and moved it to its current location in 2004. She loves working with patients of all ages and backgrounds. In December of 2010, she was invited to join Vision Source.

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Myopia Management Clinic at Vision Source South Hills. Are you concerned about your child's chance of becoming highly nearsighted? There are now preventative treatments available to prevent children from moderate to high myopia. What is myopia

Your child becomes myopic, or nearsighted, when their eyeball begins to grow too long. This focuses light in front of the retina, rather than directly on the retina, causing blurred vision. Your child will have an increased risk of various ocular conditions, including retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, and myopic macular degeneration.
