Pontchartrain Pediatrics strives to be a family-centered medical home for our patients. Leslie Lyons Brown, M.D., F.A.A.P. has been a practicing Board Certified Pediatrician for 17 years since completing her residency through LSU School of Medicine. Dr. Melanie Templet Yerger has been a practicing pediatrician on the Northshore since 1999. She is a founding partner of Pontchartrain Pediatrics.

Create a list of things you want to discuss with your child's pediatrician to ensure you get all the information you need. Jotting down your top three to five questions or concerns, bringing them to the visit and presenting these to the pediatrician at the beginning of the visit will help you focus on your issues of concern and start the dialogue with your pediatrician.
Prenatal Visits

Choosing a pediatrician for your baby can be overwhelming. Many parents make this decision months before their baby arrives. A prenatal consult or interview is a visit scheduled with your pediatrician before the baby is born. At this visit you meet with the doctor and are given the opportunity to discuss concerns or ask informative questions about your doctor, the office and staff, and future visits with your baby.
Newborn Visits

After discharge from the hospital it is recommended that your Newborn be seen in the office within 3 to 5 days after birth. Times may vary depending on the length of your baby's hospital stay. At this visit your pediatrician will take a detailed history about your pregnancy, labor, birth of your baby and your infants hospital stay.
Sick Visits

At Pontchartrain Pediatrics, we are aware of how stressful having a sick child can be. We do our best to schedule your child's visit the day you request. There may, however, be a scheduling conflict at the time your request and we can offer you the next available appointment with one of our doctors or nurse practitioners.
Wellness Visits
Report
Well check office visits are done at specific intervals of your child's life. At these visits your child's growth and development are assessed. Your child will be weighed and measured and you will be asked many questions regarding your child's developmental milestones. Vaccines are often given during these visits.
