Scleral lenses are large-diameter lenses designed to cover the cornea completely as well as extend onto the white portion of the eye, known as the sclera. This type of specialty lens is ideal for certain ocular conditions that are not compatible with traditional glasses and contact lenses. Certain eye conditions, like keratoconus, can cause the eye to develop an irregular shape which makes vision distorted and blurry.
