Children here get the care, the nurturing, the personal attention, and the guidance they need to thrive as learners and as young people. And thrive they do. The foundation they gain here stays with them in high school and for the rest of their lives. A leader in Preschool through Grade 8 education for over 75 years, our Head of School, Jennifer P. Bohnen, looks forward to welcoming you.

About
Report
What do children need in order to learn and grow? We believe that it begins with good guides on their educational journey-teachers who care about their students and know how to bring out their best. Children need a place that taps into their innate curiosity, where they feel safe to try new things, where they can make mistakes and learn from them.
History
Report
Green Hedges School was founded in 1942 by Frances Kilmer, daughter of Impressionist painter, Frederick Frieseke, and Kenton Kilmer, son of famous American poet Joyce Kilmer. The Kilmers sought to provide a positive learning environment free from prejudice, and enriched curriculum that included the best in all the arts, a global exposure to history, and a commitment to citizenship and character.
