The Roig Academy

This past year, The Roig Academy celebrated its 20th year serving children and youth in the Miami-Dade community as a private education school. Since its inception, The Roig Academy has been providing an alternative educational milieu for students with a variety of learning strengths and areas of need while preparing them to be lifelong learners of the 21st century.

Welcome to The Roig, where education isn't one size fits all, and where our approach is made for each student, not all. As a small school in Miami, our students work in very small groups with a 7:1 faculty to student ratio, but we understand that a great classroom means more than just a small size.

The Roig Academy believes in educating the whole child. For this reason, we create moments for our students and families that allow them to not only look at things from a global perspective, but also, reflect inwards.

As we explore one of the IB Transdisciplinary Themes "How We Express Ourselves, " students are inquiring into ways to express their feelings, ideas, value, and beliefs in ways that demonstrate their appreciation for the world around them.Students were encouraged to reflect and represent a pose which best represents their uniqueness and individuality.

At The Roig Academy, we empower, nurture, and promote student achievement in a learning environment where children feel comfortable taking risks in order to inquire, explore and reflect upon their learning. The ROIG approach (Reflect, Observe, Inquire and Grow) encourages our students to develop the necessary skills that allow them to be successful learners in our global community.

Sax argues that rising levels of obesity, depression, and anxiety among young people-as well as the explosion in prescribing psychiatric medications to kids-can all be traced to parents letting their kids call the shots.
