Since 1958, Bernard Building Center has been building trusting relationships with builders, homeowners, and the community. Customer service, quality products, the largest inventory in N.E. Michigan, top national brands, and reliability are the foundation that we have built our company on. In 1958, my parents opened a small window shop called Bernard Woodworking.
They were the only two employees, with me and my sister Debbie running underfoot. Soon, both the business and our family expanded, and we began the journey that led to the Lumberyard and Home Center that we are today. We've come a long way from humble beginnings.

Engineered Lumber and Trusses

We stock a number of sizes of trusses from shed trusses to pole barn trusses. We also work with a number of truss companies to offer custom trusses in various styles, pitches, and designs. Our Project sales staff does material takeoffs on Engineered lumber and trusses, our Hale, and Cheboygan stores have plotters to print off blue prints for use on the job site.

For dimension lumber and panels, look no further than Bernard Building Center. With over a million board feet of dimension lumber in stock we can take care of your lumber needs. Bernard's started in the fall of 2015 to convert all of our dimension lumber inventory from a #2 and Better grade to a #2 and Better Premium/Appearance grade.
