Village Green Day School is a nonsectarian preschool with kindergarten and after-school care that serves the needs of the rapidly expanding Northern Virginia area. Where learning is stimulated by a school that sets the standard by which all others are judged. We, as a collective unit, strive to assure a safe, bountiful, and productive environment for our VGDS children.
The Village Green Day School curriculum has been designed to integrate the essential elements of various models of early learning. It is a comprehensive and sequential program of learning from infancy to kindergarten. Montessori, Piaget, Gesell, Erikson, Vygotsky and other traditional preschool practices have all influenced our teaching and assessment methods.

There is so much an infant can learn in such a short period of time. It's critical that your child develops a relationship with the caring adults in their life. Our classes may either be grouped according to chronological age or developmental age. Our multi-age and Montessori classes were developed to encourage children's developmental processes without being limited by chronological age.

Preschool Program

The major focus of each classroom is based upon sequential learning guided by our comprehensive core curriculum. The programs also include discovery learning, imaginative play, and role-play, music and movement, and progressively with age the programs include fitness, library, and art.

Montessori Learning
Report
Rather than teaching the child concepts, the Montessori environment is designed to stimulate children's interest, simplify their understanding and enhance their learning capabilities, with the teacher acting as a guide or facilitator. Children aged 2 to six participate in the program. Our Montessori credentialed teachers have been trained in the Montessori philosophy and in the purposeful and specific use of Montessori materials.
Sacc
Report
Students from local public elementary schools may participate in our School Age Childcare (SACC) Program before and/or after their school day. Our hours are from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We also offer care to our Extended Day and SACC students during county teacher workdays, snow days, and spring break.
