Castro Valley School of Music is Castro Valley's largest music school, teaching over 300 students from ages 4 years old to adult. Whatever instrument you or your child wish to play, odds are we teach it: Piano, electric & acoustic Guitar, Drums, Bass, Ukulele, Voice, Violin, Saxophone, Trumpet, all under one roof.
We believe the most important aspect of music education is the fit between student and teacher. We have over 20 instructors who offer a variety of styles of teaching any musical genre. We also believe that playing live music with other musicians is crucial to mastering self-expression through your instrument.

Guitar, Bass, & Ukulele Lessons

Our guitar instructors teach rock, blues, metal, country and classical styles on both electric and acoustic guitars. Beginners work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Each lesson will challenge you with a new technique or music theory, and ends with something fun - such as your favorite riff or song.
Piano Lessons

Whether you aspire to play Bach or Alicia Keys, Castro Valley's dedicated piano instructors will help you become the pianist you want to be. Our faculty will introduce you to the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. You do not need a piano at home to take lessons; a simple full-size electronic keyboard will suffice for the first six months.
Voice Lessons

If you've always wanted to hone your skills as a rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel or R&B singer, Castro Valley School of Music has the voice teacher for you. Our voice faculty focuses primarily on popular music. Each week, students are led through physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, enunciation and more.
Drum Lessons

Our drum instructors will teach rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues and many other styles. Drum language can be complex and our instructors will challenge any drummer with a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort. All drummers may bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons and theory is encouraged.
