Services
Our office is equipped with a laboratory, X-ray department, sonography, bone density, and an allergy lab. If you are coming to the clinic for lab only without seeing your doctor, please call the office the day before to ensure your lab orders are in our system. Test results are available electronically through the patient portal.
Review your Health Plan provider list to ensure that we are on the list. If you have questions about whether we are contracted to accept your health plan, contact us. We take most insurances. This will help expedite your visit. In the parking lot you will notice a golf cart valet that will take you to the front door if you want a ride.
Any non-scheduled visit or any visit after normal business hours is considered urgent care service. Non-scheduled visits are often referred to as "walk-ins." This means that our Doctors see patients by appointment during regular working hours, and we function as an Urgent Care Center evenings, weekends, holidays and for walk-in appointments.
Amarillo Family Physicians Clinic, accepts assignment for Medicare patients and most Medicare Advantage plans. That means that you will be expected to pay in full for office services until you have met your annual Medicare deductible. Then, you will only pay the 20% co-pay that Medicare does not pay.
To schedule an appointment, call (806) 359-4701 and tell the appointment secretary the name of the person who needs an appointment, identifying information such as date of birth and briefly, reason for visit. The appointment secretary will then verify the patient in our computer system to ensure that we have the correct patient.

This will be an expression of satisfaction and disappointment. I started seeing Dr. O'Dell in August of 2021. I think he is a great Dr! He has a great bedside manner and shows true caring and compassion towards me. However, my husband goes to Dr. Bravo and we love him too, but when my husband has an appointment, he gets put into a room within 10 minutes and is seen within 30 minutes. We have never had to spend more than an hour there for him. When I have an appointment with Dr. O'Dell, I have to wait an hour to an hour and a half before I ever get into a room. I don't think this is his fault because

Abby Clark is the best. She takes care of my husband, my parents, my sister and myself. My sister and I are both nurses. We love the care she provides. Not only does she have great bedside manners but she’s also very intelligent. She listens when you talk. She perceptive.
We are happy we are all fortunate to be in her care.

Went in tonight for my boyfriend, we are patients of Britten. But because we couldn't get into a visit with our doctor, we went to the urgent care. He was sent to Dr Lance Martin. Dr Martin wasn't helpful at all. My boyfriend thought he might have a sinus or ezr infection. We were not told what he had, no Rx, this Dr Martin was dismissive and told him to see a Cardiologist. He saw one 2 weeks ago and they cleared h him of heart problems. Very disappointed in this arrogant doctor. We will be sure to never use him again.

Currently 3 weeks into trying to get a very necessary medication refill with no luck. (Had the prescription for 3 years). Doctor didn’t call in the prescription after a yearly check in, and then still didn’t call in the insurance authorization after several attempts to follow up. Calls to the office aren’t returned, After hour answer line is absolutely no help. Was told I could go to the clinic to be seen again to force it through, which would require another copay. And then was told I “should have stayed on them during business hours”, as if I hadn’t been calling every day. A doctor

Go somewhere else.
The doctor I see seems to rush through appointments and throws pill at whatever they think you might have. The nurse I deal with is rude and unprofessional, and acts like she is better than her patients. (Honey, without patients you wouldn't have a job, BYH.)
You could die of old age waiting to get a call back on test results. And make sure they verify you by DOB and name - saw them get blood draws wrong by just verifying a common first name (John - there were 3 men named John waiting for blood tests that day).
The last 3 Rx refills I have needed were never called in to my

Burson is one of the worst. Talk about drama, she doesn’t listen, gets mad if you correct her, literally called me and yelled at me over the phone when asked to correct her mistaken notes. Accuracy in this profession is important. At least it is to this patient. If you don’t care about being heard, having your symptoms actually researched and finding root causes, if you like being talked down to and arguments about which is a mail order pharmacy and which is not, you’ve come to the right place.

We have been patients since Dr. Whelchel was at AFP. Changed PCP twice and were not given a choice. Sometimes it also feels as if our newest PCP does not listen to how we feel when it comes to our own healthcare. When asking for a recommendation for specialty care he simply ignored my daughter's request. This is very disappointing considering now she has already been treated for the same condition/problem 3 times.

One of the worst health care facilities in the city. The doctors do not care about you and they will charge you hundreds of dollars to send you on your way without any sort of help. All the while looking down on you and dismissing what you describe as symptoms.

If I could leave a zero, I would. I was a patient of Dr. Hale’s for 20 years. Loved him. We may have had discussions about different issues, but we were in a patient/doctor relationship—just as it should be. When he left, I couldn’t seem to get into his new office. I was placed with Dr. Spurlock who was still a great physician but clearly ready to retire. So, before he up and left too, I transferred to Abby Leake. What a mistake. She was always condescending, rude, arrogant, and there was no patient/doctor relationship. There was one way—her way. I was always taught to keep a participating
