Asheville Music School is a nonprofit music school in the heart of downtown Asheville. Our mission is strengthening communities through music education and outreach, and we welcome anyone who wishes to study music.
We do this by offering private music lessons in a wide variety of instruments and styles (ages 4-adult), by nurturing a vibrant space for teachers and musicians to thrive, and by providing unique opportunities for students, such as joining a band and giving back to their community.AMS offers private music lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, and a wide variety of musical styles.

The mission of Asheville Music School is strengthening communities through music education and outreach, while sustaining teachers and musicians in a vibrant music culture. At our downtown Asheville facility, more than 35 music educators conduct private lessons in a wide variety of music styles and instruments for students of all ages and abilities.

Asheville Music School's mission is always to strengthen communities through music education and outreach. And in 2022, we'll be expanding our offerings and ability to better serve the community as we move into our long-term home in West Asheville! We are off to a good start, but we still have a ways to go.

After your first lesson, should you decide to continue, we will ask you to become a member of Asheville Music School, which includes annual membership dues of just $65. Music is a vital piece of our humanity. Through our Play it Forward capital campaign, your financial support will help AMS serve a much larger community and bring music education into the modern era, as we move into a permanent home in West Asheville.

The first step to enrolling is finding the instructor best suited to your needs. Our staff is here to help you with this important decision! This info will be relayed to the appropriate instructor, who will contact you within 48 hours to answer further questions and schedule a lesson time. At your first lesson you will receive an enrollment form to complete and hand in to the school office also available online.

Through our outreach and scholarship programs we've brought music to many, and we have been able to provide teaching studios to dozens of music educators and teaching artists.
