Kihei enjoys the island's warmest and driest weather and can average warmer temperatures than other towns during your winter vacations. Downtown Kihei is just 11.5 miles from the Kahului Airport (Maui's main airport), which is less than half the distance from the airport to Lahaina. Travelers will be required to upload their CDC-issued vaccination record card to the state's Safe Travels Program website and have the card within them upon arrival. Failure to do so will result in a mandatory 10-day quarantine.
The Hawaii Safe Travels Program: Pre-travel testing provides travelers with an alternative to the mandatory 10-day quarantine if they are tested no earlier than 72 hours before their flight arrives with an FDA-approved nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), performed using a nasal swab, and can show proof of negative test results from a CLIA certified laboratory.
