About Me
Report
My name is Karen Majesky, but if you saw me heading to work as a teacher and tutor you might be tempted to call me Mary Poppins, what with my bags full of more bags as well as the many tricks of my trade (minus the coat rack!). When I'm not working, you can find me hiking the local trails - rain, snow or shine - with my Australian Shepherd, Hwiggins.

Karen offers a support system that addresses students' academic concerns, helps them develop an interest in learning, and empowers them with the tools and skills they need to thrive. Cancellations must be made 24-hours prior to your scheduled session. In the event of an emergency or family illness, please contact Karen by phone or text to reschedule.
Reading
Report
Strong phonological skills are the cornerstone of proficient reading. The ability to decode, or sound out words, forms the basis for learning to read and understand text. Children who struggle to decode are so exhausted by the effort needed to sound out individual words that they have no energy left for comprehension; thus, they have trouble understanding and remembering what they have read.
Writing
Report
With the implementation of the Common Core Standards, students are required to write more fluently and frequently in every subject, including math. For children with poor writing skills, the increased pressure of putting pen to paper can feel overwhelming, leading to a lack of confidence and a tendency to give up too soon.
Testimonials
Report
When we first met Karen we immediately noticed her gentle, loving ways with our boys. She has infinite patience, and we've never heard her raise her voice once or even show the slightest irritation. She always came well-prepared for that day's lessons, and it was clear that she would often spend an hour or two prepping ahead of time.
