We are a small family winery in Alexander Valley, north of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, producing Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, a Malbec blend called "Next Red" and Rose. We have been growing grapes and making wine for over 50 years. Our wine improves with time, so we age our wines longer than most other wineries.
We sell only direct to patrons, and for many, we are their "secret winery". The best way to taste our wine is by joining our "wine club" called the Annual Tasting Program. Wine is also a popular gift for the holidays, birthdays and corporate gift giving. Three generations of Hafners work here at Hafner Vineyard and we are happy to help.

Services
Hafner Vineyard Team
Report
When patrons taste Hafner wine, they enjoy the results of over 50 years of work by members of the Hafner Vineyard Team. That begins with planting the vineyard and nurturing the vines throughout the year. And it continues until your order is packed and shipped. Everything is "hands-on" at Hafner Vineyard, with a dedication to the highest quality grapes, wine and service to our patrons.
Our Story
Report
We had just been beaten at horseshoes when I joked to my partner who sold farms, "If you ever have a ranch for sale in the wine country." In Sonoma County's Alexander Valley. We'd never been there, but two weeks later we visited the one hundred acre farm of prunes, pears and Zinfandel grapes. For the first years we were prune and pear farmers while we planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay vines.
In the Vineyard
Report
Our vineyard and winery in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley are nestled where the hills, creek and vines meet. Of our 250 acres, 100 are cultivated with vines. The remainder is hilly, grazing land. Grapes have been grown on this piece of land since the late 1880s. We farm our vineyard carefully and sustainably so that this tradition can continue for generations.
Vineyard Map
Report
Sarah Hafner painted this vineyard map of Hafner Vineyard here in Alexander Valley. The yellow blocks signify Chardonnay vines, while the green blocks represent the red varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In the top right you can see the winery and caves. On our blog, Parke shares his views on the evolution from Dick's original map of Hafner Vineyard when he bought the property in 1967 to this new one.
In the Cellar
Report
The center of any winery is its cellar. This is where grapes become wine. Fermentation, aging, bottling, storage and the occasional tour all take place here in our winery in what is actually a very compact area. Even after 39 years and a small increase in production and three additional wines, our cellar continues to be a very efficient and practical layout for Winemaker Parke Hafner and his team.
