What We Treat
Report
Sex addiction, or hypersexuality, can be described as a compulsive relationship with a sexual behavior that interferes with normal living and ultimately causes severe distress to self and to loved ones. Despite the emergence of serious negative consequences, the behavior is repeated again and again in a manner that is essentially beyond the person's control.

Treatment for the Addict
Report
The very nature of addiction creates a "state of denial" by which addicts are able to hide the adverse consequences of their behavior even from themselves, and to minimize its impact on others. Treatment, therefore, is usually sought not because of any internal distress but because of some external pressure to do so.
