Bayou City Ballet was founded in 2019 with a mission to share the beauty of classical ballet through exceptional training in a small-school environment. Our faculty includes internationally recognized instructors with extensive performance and teaching experience, including former professional dancers from Houston Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and San Francisco Ballet. We offer programs for children starting at age 3, adult learners, and pre-professional students preparing for careers in dance. Our curriculum integrates classical ballet with contemporary techniques, anatomy studies, and body conditioning informed by sports science to optimize performance and prevent injury.We maintain limited class sizes to ensure personalized instruction and mentorship, with placement based on ability rather than age for advanced students. The school also provides performance opportunities through annual showcases, Nutcracker productions, and collaborations with local arts organizations. Services
Children's Ballet Program
Our children's program begins at age 3 with Creative Movement and Joy of Dance classes that develop foundational skills through imaginative play. Students progress through Pre-Ballet, Primary, and Foundations levels focusing on musicality, coordination, and proper technique. Small class sizes allow personalized instruction while fostering a love for dance in a supportive environment.
Pre-Professional Training
Designed for serious dancers aged 9+, this program offers 4-6 days weekly training in ballet technique, pointe work, men's technique, and contemporary styles. Students study classical repertoire while developing strength and artistry through conditioning and stretch-strength classes. Placement requires director approval based on technical readiness and physical maturity.
Adult Ballet Classes
We offer three adult class levels from absolute beginners to intermediate dancers. Foundations classes build basic technique, Beginner Ballet introduces turns and adagio, while Intermediate Variations studies classical solos. Morning 8-week sessions accommodate busy schedules with no prior experience required for entry-level courses.
Conservatory Program
This full-time program for ages 13-18 provides 20-25 hours weekly training including ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux, and contemporary dance. Limited to 10 students, the curriculum emphasizes classical repertoire mastery and professional preparation through repertoire studies and performance opportunities with our Youth Company.
Private Coaching
Available by appointment, private lessons offer personalized attention for technical refinement or competition preparation. Sessions cost $100/hour with semi-private options available. Current students receive waived studio rental fees for additional practice time focused on specific performance pieces or skill development.

Founder/Director
Former Houston Ballet dancer with 20+ years teaching experience. Holds BA in Kinesiology from Rice University and completed National Ballet School teacher training. Recipient of Betty Oliphant Award for Excellence in Teaching. Founded Bayou City Ballet in 2019 after directing Uptown Dance Centre's training program.

Advanced Ballet/Pointe
Former Houston Ballet Soloist with extensive performance experience in classical and contemporary works. Active in community arts initiatives including Dance for Hope and TSURU project. Founded Creative Minds Collaborative Inc. to support cross-disciplinary arts collaborations through nonprofit programming.

Contemporary and Adult Ballet
Teaching artist with 12 years experience in ballet and contemporary techniques. Professional dancer with Houston-based companies including Pilot Dance Project and Frame Dance Productions. Carol Smitherman Anglin

Master teacher with 40+ years experience and former Artistic Director of Louisiana Dance Theatre. Developed curriculum for over 40 weekly classes serving diverse populations. I wanted to enroll my daughter in a dedicated ballet school, and when Bayou City Ballet came up as the closest school to us, I was astonished by the philosophy of the school and credentials of the teachers. Centering ballet around physical safety and health is so important as I'm well aware of how young dancers find themselves retiring in their 20's and 30's due to injuries. My daughter completed a creative movement summer program and is now in pre-ballet. I could not ask for a more wonderful teacher for her. Emily not only had an impressive ballet career, but she is also a preschool teacher!

I cannot say enough good things about Bayou City Ballet School! My daughter (5 yo) has been taking classes with Ms. Emily for about two years now. She is so dedicated to her students and strives to teach the values of commitment, kindness, and hard work through ballet. I watched her class during the teacher observation week and I have never seen such calm, well-behaved and disciplined five year olds. I am an adult ballet student and I am very glad that I have gotten an excellent training from Alex. He is so good at fixing our posture and teaching basics as well as essential techniques for ballet. My six year old had a wonderful experience at the Sleeping Beauty Camp last week at Bayou City Ballet School. Alex Pandiscio and his teaching staff and remarkable. I have taken a few sessions of his adult beginner classes and have enjoyed learning very much. Teaching is an art and Alex is a true artist!
