We are crazy passionate about dirt, native plants, bees, apples, cooking, grapes and of course, crafting delicious wine. 2015 celebrates our 130 years of continuous grape growing and 30 years of winemaking. We are a family operation, no big corporate influence here. We strive to create epic wines that capture a sense of place and time, and that bring joy.
A recent guest summed up our experience quite nicely; visiting The Terraces is not simply about drinking wine, which can be done in many places. We are proud that we are different and unique. We are a simpler place, a vineyard, a winery that harks back to a different, more authentic, less pretentious time.

History

Over a century of grape growing and wine production hints at the amazing history that has transpired on our ranch. The Terraces Winery was created 30 years ago to take advantage of the remarkable Zinfandel grown on the steep terraced hillsides. With the additional plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, the winery released its first wine in 1985.

We are inspired by life, people, music, travel, what we see, taste and hear. We take that inspiration and interpret it in what we create. We strive to make it better, to try to make it right, to see things that only experience sees. We love to share with others, with our peers, with our friends. We want to elicit smiles, to make people happy, to bring joy.

We believe it is our responsibility to build on a 130 year farming legacy. As stewards of the land, our mission is to improve the habitat for native species each year, while reducing the impact of growing premium wine grapes. Awarded the Fish Friendly Farming certificate, we farm sustainably and work diligently to improve our environment each year.
Wine

For us our wine represents a cycle that renews in the spring with the pruning away of last year's growth and the beginning of bud break. As we nurture and care for the vines, many decisions; shoot thinning, shoot positioning, leaf removal, crop removal, and irrigation along with what Mother Nature provides determines what harvest will bring.
People

More than any other single influence, our people make the difference and form the backbone of The Terraces personality. Whether it's the land, the wine, the history or our visitors, we really care! Our small scale means we are more a family than a business, and each of our family members contribute hugely to our success in their own unique and passionate way.
