Emergency Care
Our clinic provides immediate triage assessment and stabilization for pets during office hours. Services include CPR readiness, IV catheter placement, oxygen supplementation, and pain management. We coordinate diagnostics like radiographs and lab work while preparing treatment plans. Critical cases receive immediate transfer assistance to 24-hour facilities after initial stabilization.
Pet Boarding
We offer climate-controlled boarding with individual runs and outdoor exercise yards. The 'Cats Only' room features window views of bird feeders. Guests receive up to five daily walks and special amenities. Reservations require proof of vaccinations and flea prevention. Our veterinary-trained staff monitors health continuously during stays.
Diagnostic Care
Our in-house laboratory provides rapid bloodwork, urinalysis, and parasite screening results. Digital X-ray and ultrasound imaging evaluate internal organs, bones, and pregnancies. Microscopy identifies skin and ear conditions. These diagnostics help develop targeted treatment plans while minimizing patient discomfort through gentle restraint techniques.

Do you handle after-hours pet emergencies?
We refer after-hours emergencies to Waco Animal Emergency Clinic or Animal Emergency Center of Temple/Belton.
What vaccinations are required for boarding?
Boarding dogs need rabies, bordetella, and distemper. Boarding cats need rabies and FVRCP vaccinations.
How much does emergency care cost?
Emergency exams start at $211.00. A minimum $250 deposit is required for during-hours emergencies.
What animals do you treat?
We treat dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, and small livestock including goats, pigs, and sheep.
Do you offer heartworm prevention?
We recommend monthly heartworm prevention starting at 8 weeks old for oral treatments.

They went above and beyond helping my chocolate lab today. He unfortunately had to get his tail amputated at another hospital out of town. They removed his stitches and didn't even charge me.

These people are great...unfortunately my sons dog got ran over so he choose to have her cremated...they let him take time to sit with him and hold her and cry...Meghan was so gentle with our baby Queenie and they were all so compassionate..thank you so much....this is now our vet!!

We found a kitten on the side of the road yesterday and it acting funny infected eyes and looks half dead I don't have money for a vet and I don't know what to do can anyone help me

While booked solid due to the corona lock down, these wonderful people still managed to take care of my two Dachshunds with rabies shots. I was just passing through and didn't have time to schedule, so they immediately went over and beyond to help me. Highly recommend sharing your business with them. More than fair price. Nice employees.

I took Chacha to have a dental this morning. I was super worried about it since shes had no health issues until now! When I picked her up she was responsive to me and a few hours later shes doing so well. Shes a bit tired but shes happy and her tail is waving! Thank yall for taking care of my baby!!!

Too bad there's only a 5 star limit to ratings of BAR N VET. These folks deserve at least 100 stars. All employees are highly trained, friendly and loving. If I could be reincarnated as a pet, I would want to live at BAR N VET. Just can't say enough good things about them. They have cared for my pets for many years.
