Dr. Macik graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology from Tarleton State University before being accepted to medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. She then completed family medicine training at the UTMB Family Medicine Residency at Conroe (now the UNT Health Science Center Conroe Family Medicine Residency).
