Services
Emergency Care
Our 24/7 emergency veterinary service addresses critical pet conditions including trauma, poisoning, and acute illness. Trained staff perform rapid triage and initiate immediate interventions while maintaining continuous client communication. The facility maintains specialized equipment for respiratory support, IV therapy, and pain management during critical stabilization periods.
Orthopedic Surgery
Advanced orthopedic procedures treat fractures, ligament injuries, and joint conditions using surgical implants and specialized techniques. Preoperative diagnostics guide treatment planning while postoperative care includes pain control and recovery monitoring. Surgeons employ minimally invasive approaches where appropriate to enhance recovery outcomes for pets with musculoskeletal trauma.
Diagnostic Imaging
In-house radiography and endoscopy enable rapid diagnosis of internal injuries and disease progression. Digital X-ray systems provide immediate visualization of skeletal structures while endoscopic tools examine gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. These diagnostics support timely treatment decisions for abdominal emergencies, foreign body ingestion, and respiratory distress cases.
Blood Transfusions
Life-saving blood product administration treats severe anemia, hemorrhage, and coagulation disorders. The hospital maintains screened donor blood banks with compatibility testing protocols to ensure safe transfusions. Continuous patient monitoring during administration minimizes adverse reactions while specialized storage maintains blood product integrity for emergency use.
Endoscopy
Minimally invasive endoscopic procedures diagnose and treat gastrointestinal and respiratory conditions without surgical intervention. High-resolution imaging systems guide foreign body removal and biopsy collection while reducing patient recovery time compared to traditional surgical approaches.

Furious. Took one of my fur babies there 12/24/21 and diagnosis was ear infection and some kind of allergy affecting the skin. Went back today because. she looks worse than she did a week ago. Found out that ringworm has been in the building since last Friday. Needless to say 1 of my 2 fur babies has ring worm. My other fur baby is perfectly fine. Will NOT be going back.

My review for this place is way over due. This place is the best I had to go in the early morning hours Dec. 2020 for my Beagle. She was in so much pain. Dr. Jennifer Welsh had to do emergecny surgery on my Beagle to remove spleen and tumor. Thank you I got to keep my baby girl. Well again Dec. 19, 2021 My Beagle was in pain so off to see the Dr. again it was Jennifer Welsh. My baby hurt her back.
She is doing better with her medication. I just want to say thank to the Doctors and staff. They are all professional, polite. They go above and beyond to help your fur baby. Thank you for what you all

In general, Swansboro Animal hospital is very sweet and took great care of my babies. However.. Dr. Gutroff (the male doctor) was very cold and didnt explain any of the take home instructions/medications to me, I was constantly asking so many questions to get through to him and get the information I needed. I was balling in my car and he seemed to have no sympathy for me or my cat. I felt like just another person bringing in their animal. However, my baby was in and out of their vet for 5 days where he also saw two other female doctors who I absolutely loved. They were super sympathetic, understanding

We have been here several times for emergency pet care. The staff is friendly, caring, nonjudgmental. The prices are extremely reasonable. We moved, but I will still travel out of my way in emergencies to bring my pets here.

The staff is very polite and take detailed notes. Without us even asking they had given our older dog an orthopedic bed to lay on while he was waiting to see the vet. We have had our cat here as well and again the are very professional and caring! We have used another facility in Jacksonville NC and were not impressed. Swansboro Animal Hospital is the only place we take our pets for after hours care!

Our Toby unexpectedly became ill late in the evening and the staff quickly got him back to be cared for. The doctor kept my husband informed on what was going on and was very honest with him how serious the situation was. Unfortunately, he did not make it. The staff were very caring and compassionate the entire time. A few weeks later we received a beautiful sympathy card from the office, which was such a kind gesture. This was a very difficult experience, but the staff's kindness was a light in a dark time.
Toby was the sweetest and most amazing dog, and had been my nine year old's best buddy
