The clinic is not just about affordable acupuncture, there is an important social justice element involved in the mission and vision of City Garden Community Acupuncture. All people, regardless of who they are, what they do, or how many resources they have, are deserving of access to holistic and safe healing practices.
Our modern healthcare structure often excludes those most in need of access to care and often provides band - aid solutions at an unbelievably high physical and financial cost. By breaking down the barriers to safe and effective sources of care, City Garden is improving the overall health and prosperity of the community.

When you first arrive, you will fill out paperwork describing what health concerns you would like to address. You then have a brief consultation with the acupuncturist. After your consultation, your acupuncturist will take you into the treatment room where you get comfortable in a reclining chair or on a massage table.
About Susie
Report
I got my first acupuncture treatment for a stomach illness while I was studying yoga in India. It was very informal - a friend of mine gave me a treatment while I rested on her floor, but the impression was so great and the needles so effective that I decided to become an acupuncturist. While attending school a fellow student introduced me to Working Class Acupuncture, the first community acupuncture clinic in Portland, Oregon.
Questions
Report
You won't be able to read during treatment because you'll probably have needles in your arms or hands. Listening to headphones is just fine, as long as it is quiet and doesn't disturb anyone around you. One should not move after the acupuncture needles are inserted. A small shift, or slowly scratching your nose is alright, but any bigger movement could be painful or could cause the needles to fall out.
