Pediatric Eye Care of Maryland is a unique private practice committed to providing complete, compassionate, and timely eye care for children and adults. We strive to create a warm, comfortable environment for our patients and their parents - one that makes a visit to the eye doctor an enjoyable experience.

Dankner, Fiergang, and Andorsky are board certified ophthalmologists, fellowship-trained in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. Our eye team also includes optometrists, orthoptists, and opticians, working together in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of our patients. Whether your child struggles on a vision screening, shows unusual eye movements, or suffered an eye injury, we're here for you.

Since our beginning in 1978, Pediatric Eye Care of Maryland (originally known as Dankner Eye Associates) has been recognized as a leader in the treatment of children's eyes. Fiergang and Andorsky are board certified ophthalmologists, fellowship-trained in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.

What's with all the "O's"? Dean L. Fiergang, MD, FAAP, FACS is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Fiergang is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as the American College of Surgeons and has also served on the Executive Board of the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

As part of our commitment to eye care education for the public, Pediatric Eye Care of Maryland, formerly Dankner Fiergang Eye Associates has sponsored the "Amazing Animal Eyes" exhibit at the Baltimore Zoo and the "Whale Vision" exhibit at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

We have also sponsored the "Flight into Sight" exhibit at the Maryland Science Center and The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, and the Capitol Children's Museum in Washington, DC.As part of our ongoing commitment to the community, our doctors regularly speaks on pediatric ophthalmology issues to parent-teacher organizations, child study groups, primary care providers, day-care providers, and other organizations.

Pediatric Eye Care of Maryland is equipped to handle a wide variety of eye and vision problems. Our staff of highly trained professionals has years of experience with treating eye problems both simple and complex in an environment that is friendly and welcoming to children.

Amblyopia ("lazy eye"), a condition in which a child's visual system gets "stuck" at a fuzzy level due to their brain not "learning" what a sharp image should look like at a young age.There can be various causes for amblyopia, such as strabismus (eye misalignment), refractive errors (need for glasses), or opacities in the front part of the eye.
