We understand that eye problems can not be fully addressed at Urgent Care or Emergency Room settings or by general physicians. We have spots on our schedule every day set aside to see people with urgent eye problems - so you can start feeling better right away. Dr. Levinson is available on weekends and after-hours for emergencies and always reachable by cell phone, text, or email.

Chronic tearing, and watery eyes, ocular irritation (gritty/sandy feeling in eyes). Blurry vision, especially when reading, working on the computer, watching TV, or in the evening. You may also have crusty eyelids in the morning. There are two types of tears - an oily tear (produced in the meibomian glands) and a watery tear (produced in the lacrimal glands).

While some people have a decrease in the production of the "watery" or aqueous tears, made in the lacrimal glands, thus creating a dry ocular surface, the majority of the patients we see with "dry eye" have normal or excessive production of the aqueous (watery) tears.Often my patients are surprised when they are told that their eyes are "dry" because they are bothered by excessive tearing.

Restasis works best in the long-term treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction ("MGD"). We find that when people are given Restasis while their eyes are still inflamed, this medicine causes ocular irritation and burning. Just as gasoline works great in the gas tank of car, but you cannot use gasoline to put out a car fire, Restasis does not work when the eye is "on fire" or having active inflammation.
