The Carlson Gracie Grand Rapids team mission is to bring high quality Jiu Jitsu in a family friendly environment. We are striving to build champions on and off the mats. From our youth program to our adults we seek to create self- confident and strong individuals of all genders at all ages. We will be offering world class Jiu Jitsu 7 days a week to meet the needs of our students.

CGT-GR is a true no politics school that strives to make our students feel comfortable and eager to train again the next day! Adult BJJ

Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu is considered to be more offensive and aggressive in nature, so it is well suited for MMA competition. In our Adult gi classes you will train in a traditional uniform (GI) while in the Nogi and wrestling classes we suggest you wear a tight fitting shirt and shorts preferably with no pockets if possible.
Kids BJJ

Our youth curriculum follows the IBJJF belt system of 4 stripes per belt and 3 belts per color. It is very important to us that kids earn their belt, nobody will be handed a belt they have not earned. The work ethic and respect that learning jiu jitsu will teach the children is a life long skill that will benefit them.

As part of Carlson Gracie Team, you'll have access to some of the highest level competitors in the state running our competition team. We follow a lead from the front philosophy, where if we tell you to compete we will be right beside you competing as well and supporting you.
We have a strong tight knit competition team that has proven itself time and time again as our instructors and students have won multiple expert divisions and gold at IBJJF, NAGA, Newbreed, local tournament circuits and have over accumulated pro grappling wins as well.Our instructors will show you competition tested and proven techniques.

L.E.O. Survival Tactics

Our program is based on and follows the great Gracie Survival Tactics program, and yes our coaches are all Gracie Survival Tactics certified! We believe jiu-jitsu is an important part of all law enforcement officers training, but it is a different jiu-jitsu with a whole different set of rules!
With our certified head instructor Troy White serving as the defense tactics instructor and being an active black belt in his training for Brazilian jiu-jitsu as well as a sheriff deputy he provides realistic up to date style and knowledge of grappling for officers self defense.Our goal is to help provide easily accessible continuing education for any and all active law enforcement.
