I have extensive experience as an acupuncturist having been licensed and practicing since 1986 in California and licensed since 1985 by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists (NCCAOM). I received my training at the San Francisco College of Acupuncture and keep up with the most recent developments by taking continuing education courses on a regular basis.
A founder of the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic, a free clinic for low-income women with cancer. Authored "Staying in Balance With Acupuncture" for Government West, a magazine for government managers. I began practicing acupuncture because I liked how Chinese medicine views the body and because I was impressed with the results of treatment; people get well, their symptoms decrease and their quality of life increases.

About Acupuncture
Report
Acupuncture is a natural healing process which works with your body's ability to heal itself. By considering all of your current symptoms, including all aspects of your physical and emotional state, acupuncture treatments help to restore the harmonious balance of the body. Acupuncturists are licensed by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance to treat many of the same conditions that are addressed by Western medical doctors.
Staying in Balance
Report
Many years ago in China, the story goes, you paid your health practitioner only when you were well. If you got sick, the practitioner had failed to do his job and treatment was free. Yes, acupuncture could help heal the person once (s)he fell ill, but the ultimate goal was to keep the person healthy.

Report
The first time you come, after filling out paperwork, we will talk about you and your life. Chinese Medicine looks at you as a whole person, rather than as a collection of symptoms. I will ask what brings you to my office as well as finding out about your diet, your sleep, your menstrual cycle (if female), your emotions, etc.
