Traditional Chinese Medicine
Report
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient medical system which originated in China thousands of years ago. While various forms of folk medicine have been practiced in China since pre-recorded human history, early evidence of a system of TCM as practiced today, dates back from ca. 6000 BC. TCM is heavily influenced by Taoism, a philosophy based on harmony and natural order.
Acupuncture & How it Works
Report
In an acupuncture treatment, very fine filiform needles are inserted into the patient's body to activate the Qi flow along specific Qi pathways (meridians). Acupuncture rebalances this subtle yet profound energetic system to create a free flow of Qi within the body. Chinese medical philosophy states that the body is able to heal itself, if its most subtle energy, the Qi, is flowing properly and harmoniously.

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that uses gentle touch to bring about deep healing of body, mind and spirit. In 1922, Mikao Usui, a Japanese mystic and healer, discovered a way to channel a gentle yet powerful stream of healing energy into his patients that did not deplete his own energy but left his patients feeling at peace and full of renewed vitality.
Frequently Asked Questions
Report
Whereas in Western medicine, where the body's micros-systems are studied and manipulated separately, TCM looks at the body as a whole. Through thousands of years of diligent human observation, TCM doctors have discovered that each part of the body is a reflection of the body as a whole. This concept is called "holism" in modern physics.
