Dr. Susan Catt attended Illinois State University and received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She then attended Mennonite College of Nursing and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. At this time she worked as an adolescent substance abuse nurse and was also deputy coroner in McLean County. She then received her Master's degree in nursing from the Mennonite College of Nursing.
From there she went on to enroll in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Illinois State University. She worked as an APN for three years prior to starting medical school. She earned her medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
