My name is Melissa Reed-Cavaluzzi and I am the director and owner of Carlsbad Country Day School. As a little girl, I always wanted to be a teacher. I would frequently line my stuffed animals up and teach them how to read and do simple math. When I finally got my first real job teaching kindergarten, I struggled to find a quality preschool I felt comfortable leaving my four year old son at.

Prior to working for CCDS, I specialized with infants and toddlers, gaining my master teacher certificate and obtaining years of classroom experience.

From the moment I could talk I let everyone know that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. I have my BS in Biology, with an emphasis in Child and Human Development.

Hi, my name is Sima Varghai and I am an Infant Teacher at Carlsbad Country Day School. I have my associates degree in Early Childhood Education and Medical Transcription. I have lived in Carlsbad for about three years with my husband of more than 30 years. I have two daughters Saba and Safa. Saba has a double masters degree in psychology behavior analysis, and Safa is in the process of finishing her BA in English.
